創團初期扛著正統Melodic Death Metal旗幟闖蕩樂壇，

原名Inferior Breed的Soilwork在新世代樂風交替轉變時刻確切掌握自我特質，

充分獵取各方音樂精華，加重了Clean Vocal份量以及雕琢的旋律，

不但令聲勢扶搖直上，更常被拿來與In Flames相提並論，

名正言順成為旋律死亡界第二世代的掌門人。

來自瑞典Helsingborg，目前陣容為主唱Bjorn Strid、雙吉他Peter Wichers、Sylvain Coudret、

鍵盤Sven Karlsson、貝斯Ola Flink和鼓手Dirk Verbeuren的Soilwork於1996年成軍；

音樂上傳承哥登堡正宗血脈並融合歐陸Power/Heavy元素，

兼具穿透性十足編曲模式以及與深受Pantera、Meshuggah、Carcass等樂團影響所散發出的Deathrash狂猛衝勁讓樂團顯得特別耀眼。

在Michael Amott(Arch Enemy)居中牽線下Soilwork加入了獨立廠牌Listenable Records，

期間分別發表的「Steel Bath Suicide(1998)」、「The Chainheart Machine(2000)」作品雙雙獲得不錯迴響，

順利在眾強環伺情況下殺出重圍，各大媒體讚譽有佳，

並如願和Defleshed、Cannibal Corpse、Marduk等樂界前輩共同巡迴演出！

因具有突破性發展的「A Predator’s Portrait」在市場上反應相當熱烈，

讓Soilwork能夠大膽放手去嘗試更多元音樂創作；

請來金屬怪傑Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad)監製拱出全新大碟「Natural Born Chaos」，被BW&BK雜誌選為2002年度最佳專輯。

感想



Soilwork這個團體，

算是旋律死金中，

我比較少接觸到的一團，

通常我對那種可能每年或是一兩年就會出一張專輯的樂團，

會比較不感興趣，

與其說不感興趣，

應該是說會有主觀意識認為不會有這麼多的好作品。











但是不可否認的，

Soilwork的作品，

在我很認真的去接觸後，

它屬於我滿喜歡的風格，

主唱的唱腔，

厚實，有力。









而樂曲的部分，

除了Melodic Death Metal 的元素外，

還融入了Deathrash(死亡鞭金)的元素，

讓他們的作品，

多了很多元的風貌。









但在市場壓力下，

樂團也漸漸的走向比較modern rock的風格，

已經漸漸失去了原本旋死鞭金的特色，

是比較可惜的一點。









單就旋死的部分，

早期的soilwork屬於很不錯的團體，

旋律性夠，

且歌詞意境都滿到位的，

但後期，

歷經團員改朝換代後，

風格逐漸走樣，

如果就我而言，

這樣的團就是爛掉了，

soilwork在2010年也出了新的single，

已經嗅不到旋死的氣味了。
