樂團BIO

猶太祭師1970年成軍於英國伯明罕，

創始團員為雙吉他手K.K. Downing、Glenn Tipton與貝斯手Ian Hill，

發行首張專輯「Rocka Rolla」後，

團員更替頗頻，1973年Rob Halford加入主唱一職之後，

史上最強的重金屬樂團基本隊形就此完備。







皮褲皮衣打外加鐵鍊為造型，

音樂融合Black Sabbath哥德金屬風，

以及齊柏林飛船樂團速度感強烈的電吉他扣擊，

雙吉他編制讓他們的音量更為強大，

配合主唱Rob Halford火山爆發般的唱腔，

重金屬之神「Metal Gods」稱號不脛而走。







British Steel是猶太祭師的第6張專輯，

如同重金屬名團Anthrax吉他手Scott Ian所說，

這是一張真正定義重金屬的專輯。







發行於1980年，巧妙地將搖滾注入更具侵略性的音量，

更加琢磨每首歌的旋律感，

終於獲得商業成功，打入主流市場，

正式開啟80年代重金屬樂團大爆發。

Judas Priest，

傳奇中的傳奇，

經典中的經典，

重金屬界，無可取代的先驅。







聽重金屬的人，

不論你是偏好哪種樂風，

不論你喜愛哪個國家的樂團，

如果說你不知道Judas Priest，

那麼我會說你聽的重金屬，

還不夠，

因為最根本的東西你都沒有些許的瞭解，

那麼試問，

你所聽的那些black metal, death metal, doom metal, thrash metal,

又是些甚麼呢???







最早起源於西方1960年代後期的硬式搖滾（Hard Rock或Heavy Rock），

1970年代初的新一批樂團（Led Zeppelin(齊柏林飛船)，Black Sabbath(←按我)(黑色安息日)，

Deep Purple(←按我)(深紫色樂團)）將演奏技巧加以改良，

華麗搖滾（英語：Glam Rock）潮流過後，

又出現了一批正式自稱重金屬音樂的樂團Judas Priest（猶太祭司）。







Heavy Metal必須具備狂吼咆哮或高亢激昂的嗓音、

電吉他大量失真的音色、再以密集快速的鼓點，

和低沉有力的貝司填滿整個聽覺的背景空間，

而構成一種含有高爆發力，快速度，

重量感及破壞性等元素的改良式搖滾樂。

通常泛指傳統的主流派重金屬或無法分類到其他重金屬流派裡的重金屬樂。







歷史上，

很多人會去討論到底誰才是重金屬的第一個樂團，

其實上述的四個樂團，

成立的時間幾乎是同樣的，

所以也造就現在到底誰是第一個重金屬樂團，

眾說紛紜，

但不可否認的一點是，

這些現在聽起來軟軟的，

不怎麼heavy的音樂，

卻是現在各種metal的始祖。





Judas Priest在音樂上的成就，

他們跟上述的三團，

一起為原本的heavy rock帶起了一個新的浪潮，

也是我們熟悉的new wave of british heavy metal，

英國重金屬新浪潮，

讓很多原本的rock band，

轉型成為了metal band，

也造就了如Iron Maiden(←按我), Motorhead(←按我)等經典樂團，

更造就了多元化的metal變化。







Judas Priest的另一項成就，

就是在1999年的時候，

由許多的知名樂團，

一起為他們打造了兩張，

像猶太祭師致敬 / 金屬傳奇第一章及第二章，

A Tribute To Judas Priest / Legends Of Metal Vol.I & II，

裡面舉凡像Helloween(←按我) , Gamma Ray, Saxon, Iced Earth(←按我) , Nevermore(←按我) ,

Blind Guardian, Forbidden, Angra(←按我) , Overkill, Stratovarius(←按我) , Kreator, Skyclad等，

可說是現金樂團上舉足輕重的樂團都可以看到，

可想而知Judas Priest對這些樂團的影響，

對heavy metal的影響有多麼的深遠。







你可以不喜歡Judas Priest，

因為他們的音樂對於現在的年輕樂迷來說，

太軟，爽度也不是很夠，

但是你不能沒有聽過Judas Priest，

因為你現在所聽的所有種類，

就是從他們這些老樂團，

衍生出來的。
