打不死的硬蕊金屬蟑螂！

Papa Roach（蟑螂老爹），美國硬搖滾、另類金屬樂隊，

來自加利福尼亞州瓦卡維爾。

處女專輯《Infest》於2000年發售，自此打響名堂。

1997年，蟑螂老爹自資製作《Old Friends from Young Years 》專輯，未獲傳媒和市民注意。

2000年4月，蟑螂老爹第二張專輯《Infest》開售，由夢工廠唱片製作，

大獲好評：躋身《告示牌》（Billboard）流行專輯榜頭五名、

獲三重白金認證（美國銷量超過300萬）、英國搖滾金榜冠軍。

2000年9月，單曲《Last Resort》奪英國金榜季軍、在美國Billboard現代搖滾榜連續7週冠軍、

2000年終現代搖滾單曲榜亞軍。

《滾石雜誌》選蟑螂老爹為「年度人物」（People Of The Year）。

2001年，蟑螂老爹獲第43屆葛萊美獎「最佳新進藝人」、「最佳短篇音樂錄影帶」2項提名。

尤其主唱兼團中靈魂人物Coby Dick在本輯中開始換以Jacoby Shaddix名號出現，

並發明"聽更多、聽不見更多/The more I learn, the more I ignore"的自我推翻方式找靈感寫創作後，

感想

Papa Roach，

來自美國的硬核樂團，

一出道就廣受美國青年的喜愛，

有些網站把他們歸類在Nu - metal的分類裡，

但是我認為，

他們更適合hardcore這個分類。

hard rock中帶有一些些的heavy metal，

這就是hardcore，

他們沒有那種death的唱腔，

一貫的清腔來詮釋整首歌，

這也是為什麼hardcore可以在世界各地廣受樂迷們喜愛的原因之一，

很多人喜歡樂團的演奏，

但是對於像black metal、death metal、power metal等這類型的金屬樂，

卻不敢嘗試，

原因在於這些屬於正統metal的音樂，

對於只是單純喜愛樂團演奏而不是喜歡重金屬的人來說，

太過激烈，

這也是為什麼在台灣像五月天這種鳥團可以紅透半邊天的原因，

有鑒於如此，

在美國很多樂團開始將hard rock中加入一點點的metal元素進去，

可能是速彈，可能是死腔，可能是吼腔，

但是他只是在樂曲中有那麼一些些的元素存在，

整體的歌曲還是以hard rock為本體，

這就是hardcore，(deathcore及metalcore皆屬此分類的分支)

舉凡像Papa Roach、POD、Hatebreed等，

都屬於這分類的優秀團體。

另外hardcore團會受到廣大年輕人喜愛的原因，

在於他們的歌詞，

歌詞所提及的範圍可以說非常貼近年輕人的心，

舉凡夢想、性、渴望、愛情、失戀、家庭、親子關係、對社會的厭惡、對世事的不屑等，

這些這些都是年輕人心中一直在打轉的一些問題，

所以當hardcore團的音樂演奏時，

不只音樂打入了年輕人的心，

連歌詞，

也深深的敲擊年輕人深藏在心中的想法。

Papa Roach的歌，

歌詞屬於少數hardcore樂團中比較正面的，

歌詞中常談及青春期的男男女女對於愛情的憧憬，

或是年輕人對於愛情的失望或是各種不同的情況，

在他們的歌詞中都可以發現到，

主唱的聲音，

詮釋這些歌曲，

個人覺得很適合，

因為這些歌，

並不需要很強的爆發力，

反而需要一些些帶有柔情的聲音，

更能夠將這樣的歌曲詮釋的更理想，

而Papa Roach的主唱，

就有這樣的特質存在。

而他們的其他樂手，

表現的也中規中矩，

並沒有太強的個人色彩存在，

但是這樣的組合，

也讓他們的音樂，

感覺更有融合性，

Papa Roach是我滿推薦的一個hardcore團，

不愛死腔或吼腔的人，

Papa Roach會是不錯的選擇。
