雄壯的音樂與魔幻主義式的歌詞將聽眾帶入遙遠的維京時代，
濃郁的民族特點以及對於勇敢與自由的歌頌和嚮往，

Ensiferum成員們身著毛皮盔甲，面塗油彩，手持利劍長矛，
歌頌英雄的驍勇善戰，吟唱祖國河山的瑰麗壯美，
以及交融著傳說、幻想與吟遊詩人式的詞句，
都將聽者帶回到千年前斯堪地那維亞的神奇土地上。
提到Viking Metal維京金屬，就不得不談到千湖之國-芬蘭。
據資料統計，芬蘭擁有近500支涉及維京題材的金屬/搖滾樂團，
然而來自赫爾辛基的Ensiferum，
和家喻戶曉的Moonsorrow、Finntroll並稱芬蘭維京三劍客！
經過多張受到矚目且銷售一空的EP洗禮後，
2001年發行首張同名專輯『Ensiferum』，立即在歐洲金屬圈引起強烈迴響，
分別贏取權威音樂雜誌的極高評價。

感想
Ensiferum，
來自芬蘭的維京金屬樂團，
一群提著聖劍，
唱著傳奇故事的金屬樂團!!
維京金屬是黑金屬音樂的另一個分支流派，
此種樂風是以黑金屬為架構，
一樣使用失真吉他、雙踏、黑腔、鍵盤等等的演奏方式，
不過編曲上比黑金屬要注重旋律，
曲風也比較沒有那麼兇狠、肅殺，
反而多了一些較為抒情的感覺，
有些樂團甚至完全沒有黑金屬的樣子，
乍聽之下反而像是旋律金屬一樣，
歌詞則較關注於祖先情懷等等。
Ensiferum的歌曲常在副歌與橋段，
加入格里高利聖詠與舒緩唱法混合的元素，
金屬與民謠旋律通過主音吉他，
或者「鍵他」(一種手持彈奏的鍵盤）表現出來，
並交織著重金屬節奏例如經典的「疾馳」(Gallop)鼓點節奏。
樂隊也時常在歌曲開篇時使用原聲吉他，
他們的歌詞主題通常與奇幻，
古代題材有關，
或者是通常帶著英雄氣概的歷史故事。
Ensiferum的音樂，
在主唱低沉渾厚的嗓音之下，
帶有些許黑腔的唱法下，
配上充滿了史詩感的旋律，
會讓人彷彿置身於某場偉大的戰役之中，
那種浩瀚，那種浩大，
可以從他們的音樂之中，
很完整的得到。
雙吉他的編制，
在旋律以及主吉他的雙重演奏下，

如果再重一些，
或許史詩的感覺會再更深一些，
而KEYBOARD的部份，
在某些樂曲之中並不是這麼樣的明顯，
這倒是有些可惜。
Ensiferum與Moonsorrow、Finntroll並稱芬蘭維京三劍客，
但是每支樂團都有不同的風格，
Ensiferum他們的感覺，
就像是中世紀的十字軍的武士，
讓人感覺到神聖，
感覺到每場戰役的偉大，
這在他們的音樂之中，
都可以很明顯的發覺到，
喜歡維京的朋友，
Ensiferum絕對是一支你不想錯過的樂團。
