芬蘭籍的Eternal Tears Of Sorrow，
是少數的將交響金屬的概念融入的旋律死亡金屬樂團，
由Jarmo Puolakanaho, Altti Vetelainen，
以及Olli-Pekka Torro所組成，
在錄製1994年的Demo「The Seven Goddesses of Frost」之後，
樂團逐漸由玩票性質較重的樂團轉成正式的樂團，
並正名為EToS。
直到1997年才於哥登堡的地下廠牌X-treme，
發行首張專輯「Sinner's Serenade」，
98年於Spinefarm Records旗下，
發行「Vilda Mannu」後正式浮出檯面，
第三張專輯「Chaotic Beauty」讓EToS一飛衝天。
引進大量的鋼琴，氣氛拿捏漂亮，饒富優美旋律，
可說是旋律死亡金屬之聲逐漸衰退時期的復興大作!!
但在2001年發行樂團第四作「A Virgin And A Whore」後，
便宣布將無限期休團，沒多久即宣告解散，
留下多張至今依舊是旋律死亡金屬出色的佳作!
2005年的一月EToS敗部復活，
隔年於老東家Spinefarm Records，
發行復活之作「Before The Bleeding Sun」，
Melodic Power Metal之味濃厚的芬蘭鍵盤指引"Sweet Lilith of My Dreams"，
優美音符與精緻吉他對位提供樂迷渴望已久的大量旋律!!

感想
Eternal Tears Of Sorrow，
來自芬蘭的旋死樂團，
不同於其他的旋死團，
在旋死中加入了交響樂，
創造一種不同的風格。
有關死亡旋律金屬的起源，
大部分人都會認為Sentenced發表的大碟《North From Here》，
便是旋律死亡金屬的第一張唱片。
但是，大多數人認為來自瑞典哥登堡的哥登堡三大天王：
Dark Tranquillity的《The Gallery》、In Flames的《The Jester Race》、
At the Gates的《Slaughter of the Soul》，一同帶動瑞典金屬新浪潮運作，
成為旋律死亡金屬流行的基石，
甚至有人把他們玩的音樂類型，
以該地地名命名為哥登堡金屬。
大部分的旋律死亡金屬都來自北歐斯堪的那維亞一帶，
特別是瑞典和芬蘭。
說到芬蘭旋死，
大家第一個想到的一定是那個芬蘭旋死第一大團，
Children Of Bodom 死神之子，
不可否認的是，
早期的死神之子，
絕對是每個喜愛旋死的人必聽的團，
也確確實實的是一組很優秀的旋死樂團，
但無奈經過商業社會以及月歲的摧殘，
死神之子不復以往，
兇猛度以及力度都大大減弱了，
讓很多人感到惋惜。
Eternal Tears Of Sorrow經過2001~2005年的休團，
再次的重新出發，
這次的休團對於他們Johnson個人覺得，
是有正面影響的，
復出後的歌曲，
比之前擁有更多的交響元素，
也讓他們的表演有上一層的提升，
他們的死腔，
並不會死的很徹底，
所謂並不會死的很徹底，
意思就是說如果你很認真仔細的聽，
是可以聽得出來歌詞在唱什麼的，
Arch Emeny有不少的歌曲也是如此，
而清腔的部份，
如果不熟悉他們的人，
或許會以為他們是哪一支憂鬱搖滾的樂團，
主唱聲音在清腔的部份，
其特質讓人感覺到一絲絲的憂鬱，
吉他solo的部份，
亦是屬於很有水準的部份，
不論在clean tone或是破音的部份，
轉換的非常自然。
Eternal Tears Of Sorrow的樂曲中，
有別於其他的旋死樂團，
只有一貫的旋死音樂，
在他們的專輯中，
或多或少都會有clean tone的歌曲存在，
這並不是只單純vocal的clean tone，
而是全曲全樂器都是clean tone，
這在旋死樂團裡面，
是比較少見的。
如果你聽膩了整張專輯都是旋死樂的旋死團，
那麼Eternal Tears Of Sorrow會是你一個不錯的選擇，
如果你對芬蘭的樂團有所偏好，
那麼Eternal Tears Of Sorrow則是你不容錯過的一團。
