除了擁有Death Metal基本的殘暴與速度，
更融合爵士、古典以及前衛各方面不同屬性之元素，
並運用旋律化方式整合呈現，
來自美國維吉尼亞州的Arsis，
大量散發出技術派旋律死亡金屬的威猛能量，
令聽者皆被那極具深度的內涵所牢牢吸引住。
Arsis是由主唱兼吉他的James Malone，
與鼓手Mike Van Dyne兩人於千禧年時所建立，
創作方向除受到Iron Maiden、Morbid Angel、In Flames的影響之外，
更繼承了Chuck Schuldiner(Death)的意志，
將死亡金屬演奏編排更加的複雜化。
同時從中探索各式各樣的編曲結構，與Nile、Cryptopsy、
Into Eternity、Necrophagist等團隊，
共同堅守著Technical Death光榮血脈。
2001/2002年連續用兩張Demo小試身手，
隨後入主獨立廠牌發行首張專輯「A Celebration Of Guilt(2004)」，
顯露出Arsis對極限金屬的極度熱衷。
而包含多樣音源的高水準演釋手法不但獲得雜誌媒體一致推崇，
努力尋求公開表演機會的態度也使得名聲在樂迷們口耳相傳間迅速拓展開。
2006年第二彈「United In Regret」雖然在主流排行中並無亮眼佳績支撐，
卻也讓歐洲名廠Nuclear Blast見識到他們求新求變的膽識和決心，
大表驚嘆之餘立刻遞出合約極力延攬至旗下。
2007年Mike宣布必需暫時離團好以完成自己的學業，
James另外找來Ryan Knight(吉他)、Noah Martin(貝斯)、Darren Cesca(鼓)等樂手助陣，
打造關鍵重點傑作「We Are The Nightmare(2008)」，
成功跨足國際躍上世界版圖！而也因為同名單曲被當紅的遊戲「Guitar Hero」收錄其中，
甚至令聲望橫掃了音樂圈與電玩界。
經歷多次團員異動，2010年Arsis換上吉他Nick Cordle、
貝斯Nathaniel Carter重新整軍，
Mike的意外歸隊，
也似乎在宣告與James將再度擦出精采的創作火花！

感想
Arsis，
一支來自美國這個鞭金盛行國家的技術旋死樂團，
短短的11年間，
卻已經在樂壇界，
造成話題。
人人都說英雄出少年，
可以看到很多樂團的成員，
可能都只是1X歲的小夥子，
甚至有像DECAPITATED這樣的技術死金樂團，
讓現在的樂團生態越趨年輕，
卻不會因為年紀的關係，
產生不好的效果。
國外玩音樂的人，
大多都是自小就開始接觸樂器，
不太像國內通常是上了高中以後甚至大學，
才開始接觸樂器，
起步比別人慢，
而且國內資源也不如國外來的充足，
以至於國內樂手跟國外樂手相比，
總是會比國外的樂手遜色一些些。
Arsis這個樂團，
說實在話，
Johnson並不覺得他們的音樂，
可以跟技術死金扯得上邊，
如果說他們是一團還算ok的旋死樂團，
那還說得過去，
但是如果要跟技術扯上邊，
那Johnson個人認為，
還是有一些些距離，
Arsis的吉他手，
技巧算適中上階層，
但是並沒有到高超技巧的地步，
在某些歌曲的演奏方面，
會讓人覺得鼓聲與其他樂器的搭配有些突兀，
但是他們的基本本質不算差，
樂曲的編排也尚有一定的水準，
但如果跟北歐的旋死或是技術死比起來的話，
那Johnson認為他們差了一段不小的距離。
Johnson個人認為，
旋律死金，
必須富有旋律性及速度性這兩種元素，
但是很可惜的是，
Arsis的旋律性並不足夠，
速度性則在某些歌曲中有展現，
但並不足夠，
主唱的部份或許是此團中，
比較能夠讓人覺得ok的部份，
死腔有到位，
而且力量夠，
個人認為這個部份，
是樂團中比較有穩定發揮的部份。
