來自希臘的Firewind，
由溥受金屬大魔頭Ozzy Osbourne欽點成為新任吉他手的Gus.G領軍，
偕同兩位同袍戰友貝斯手Petros "Christo" Christodoylidis與鍵盤吉他雙修的鬼才Bob Katsionis，
並自2005年起由橫跨Time Requiem、Majestic、Spiritual Beggars的瑞典籍Apollo Papathanasio擔任主唱，
鼓手之職自去年Mark Cross宣告脫隊後由同德籍的Michael Ehre(Uli Jon Roth.MetaliumMichael)擔綱。
1998年成軍來一路從古城希臘拓展至歐美版圖，
並平均以兩年一張錄音作品成功穩固市場，
繼2008年發行了統整十年輝煌軌跡的現場專輯「Live Premonition」
及年初搶先於線上數位發表的單曲"World on Fire"後，
終於在今年引頸期盼下交出第六張全新大碟「Days Of Defiance」，
光看其封面的熾熱烈焰就可預見其熱血程度絕對不減！
首曲"The Ark Of Lies"中標準吉他交疊鍵盤雙獨奏搭配上飽滿雙大鼓早已明確宣告其忠貞不二路線；
挾帶著強烈氣勢的"World on Fire"吉他Riff一出場便絲毫不肯讓賢；
中版行進的"Embrace the Sun"負起了緩和整張專輯的工作；
與歌名略有反諷意味的小品"Broken"在清澈透明的前奏結束後急轉直下；

相較於時下Power/Speed Metal已玩不出新花招還一眛追求速度與技巧相較，

感想
Firewind，
一個由天才吉他手領軍的速金樂團，
原籍美國，
後來回歸到希臘籍，
一出來就在速金界造成風潮。
Gus G，
一名由金屬大魔頭Ozzy Osbourne所欽點的天才吉他手，
吉他的技巧及速度，
已經到了可以用出神入化來形容他，
Gus G大概可說是現今速金吉他手裡，
少數能夠速度與技巧都能夠顧及到的吉他手之一，
很多速金的吉他手，
速度顧到了，
但是技巧卻少了，
技巧多了，
但是速度卻下降了，
但是在Firewind的音樂裡，
可以很明白的聽到，
Gus G把這兩項的元素，
都顧及的很好。
Firewind最讓人詬病的是，
吉他手一枝獨秀，
使得其他的樂手無法很完整的配合上他，
雖然他們的編曲一向讓人很欽佩，
但是總覺得是Gus G的個人秀，
聽他們的歌，
總是會期待中間樂曲solo的部份，
或許這也是因為Johnson之前有在玩吉他的緣故，
而Firewind也是少數讓Johnson的寶貝Elroy這類不是很喜歡聽solo的人，
會停下來專心聽的一個樂團。
Firewind另外讓人詬病的就是，
就是他們的主唱，
他們的主唱，
有power但是中氣不足，
常常在歌一開始時，
讓人感覺到他的磅礡氣勢，
但是一進到副歌就會覺得，
媽的怎麼這麼軟，
中氣不足加上聲音特質，
讓人感覺到非常明顯的歌跟不上曲，
尤其在四代主唱的身上非常的明顯，
樂團主唱能夠跟得上曲的應該只有第一代主唱，
但是在一代主唱離團後，
這樣的情況也不復見。
Firewind就後期速金而言，
是喜愛速金必聽的一團，
原因在於Gus G的功力真的不錯，
雖然還是會有極少數軟歌出現，
但是絕大多數的歌曲還是非常讓人熱血澎湃的。
