1994年末，Fear Factory（一著名的獨立音樂廠牌）製作人Dino Cazares，
在聆聽了他們在Roxyhe Whiskey A-Go-Go俱樂部中演出後，
就把Coal Chamber推薦給Road runner唱片公司，
以便提供給該樂隊出唱片的機會。
可樂隊的主音歌手Dez不滿樂隊成員拒絕其妻子的加入而憤然離隊而去，
到了1995年春，隨著一句“美滿的婚姻無需影響我的音樂事業的發展”，
Dez回心轉意並毅然歸回於“礦坑”，
Coal Chamber真正的發跡，
是他們在1997年“洛杉磯另類金屬浪潮”（LA Alternative Metal Scene）中脫穎而出的音樂表現，
他們同年推出的樂隊同名專輯廣受樂評界的好評。

感想
Coal Chamber，
一支來自美國洛杉磯的Nu metal樂團，
在充滿競爭的洛杉磯裡，
脫穎而出。
美國洛杉磯這個城市，
孕育出不少新生代搖滾猛將，
這組Nu-Metal的4人組Coal Chamber，
最早崛起於94年，常常出沒當地的pub，
樂隊靠著實力與運氣，
成為在充滿競爭的洛杉磯裡頭的耀眼之星。
但發片過程中，並不是很順利，只因有團員求去，
讓樂團暫時面臨半解散的狀態，
不過幾個月後團員，又再度歸隊
，終於順利在97年發表了同名專輯，
成為搖滾新悍將。
Johnson剛開始接觸metal及搖滾沒有多久，
就接觸到了 Coal Chamber這支樂團，
當初年紀輕，其實並不覺得他們的音樂有甚麼特別的，
單純覺得他們的音樂，容易上手，順耳，耐聽，
久而久之因為接觸了別的風格，
而將他們漸漸遺忘，
但是在多年以後，
再將他們翻出來聽，
卻發現了一些當初沒有發現的感覺。
跟一般的Nu - metal一樣，
說唱在這樣的樂團裡面佔了滿重要的腳色，
由於主唱的聲線比較屬於metal core的聲線，
以至於聽metal的人並不會太過於排斥，
而他們的音樂部分，
雖然只有單吉他，
但是卻用一把吉他創造出很多元的感覺，
Chros在刷的時候，穩健又具有破壞力，
貝斯撐起整團的低音，
鼓的部分在不少Nu metal團裡面都屬於比較平淡的一環，
而在Coal Chamber也是如此，
平淡，不花俏的鼓，但也缺少了一些驚奇。
值得一提的是，Coal Chamber的主唱因為樂團理念的關係，
在2002年另外組了一支樂團DevilDriver，
而Coal Chamber也就此解散了，
不過在2011年，B. Dez Fafara又找回了原本的團員，
Coal Chamber又死灰復燃，
重新在這個樂壇繼續為Nu metal盡一份心力!!
