想當初曾為了『一支死亡金屬樂團到底是要保留技術還是旋律』一事與友人有意見上的分歧，
如果說採取全面的技術導向，
勢必會因為整體平衡與重量感犧牲掉大部分的旋律，
如Brain Drill、Gorguts、Decrepit Birth，
以及路越走越偏鋒的Brutal Death派別便是。
反之如果為了要主打討喜的旋律性的話，
則不能有太多因為技術的鋪陳與隨之而來的重量感來牽制流暢的旋律疾走，
早期瑞典旋律死亡金屬已經幫我們證實了這一點，
但是近年來像Gorod能夠兼具且平衡的樂團紛紛浮出水面，
展現了技術與旋律並進之下的超然平衡，
而來自義大利的Fleshgod Apocalypse便是其中之一。
樂團成立於2007年，
並於同年被 Neurotic Records簽入旗下，
並於2008年跟著Behemoth, Origin, Dying Fetus,
Hate Eternal, Suffocation, Napalm Death 等知名樂團，
在歐洲作巡迴演出。
2008年五月，
Fleshgod Apocalypse錄製了第一張專輯，
並於同年的12月，
樂團決定與原本的Neurotic Records結束合作關係，
並且簽入了Willowtip Records的旗下，
08年錄製的首張專輯並未於該年發行，
而是在09年才正式的發行。
2010年，
Fleshgod Apocalypse發行了新的EP，
其中包含了At The Gates的歌曲"Blinded by Fear"。
2011年，Fleshgod Apocalypse被全球知名金屬大廠，
Nuclear Blast Records給簽了下來，
並且於同年的八月發行了樂團第二張專輯，
並且在北美展開了巡迴演出。

感想
Fleshgod Apocalypse，
來自義大利的死金樂團，
出道短短四年之間，
就已經在金屬界裡造成風潮。
死亡金屬歷史淵遠流長，
這些樂隊的演奏極其樸實，
不像普通重金屬樂隊，
在樂器上加許多效果器，
或是用點弦、大小泛音等花哨指法。
然而他們的音樂是「金屬」味，噪而重，
從樂器到主唱的噪音都有噪音成分，
而且配合巧妙，有種出人意料的效果，
並將「金屬樂」這個概念表達得淋漓盡致。
反宗教意識非常明顯，
從樂隊名到歌名，
大量涉及宗教名詞，晦澀難懂，
內容多涉及死亡、虐待、精神錯亂、
人格分裂、道德危機等等，
總體上反映人類社會的陰暗面，
所以這種音樂本身也顯得黑暗、醜陋，
就像死屍散發著惡臭一樣。
死亡金屬發展至今，
也發展出了許多不同的分類，
傳統死，殘死，技術死，旋死，前衛死等等，
每一種分類都有代表的樂團存在，
如傳統死金，代表樂團就有大家耳熟能詳的Death, Cannibal Corpse等，
而殘死則有Devourment, Brodequin等，
旋死的樂團則多到不行，
前衛死則有Opeth, Sentenced等，
技術死的話，Nile, Suffocation,以及DECAPITATED最為有名。
Fleshgod Apocalypse雨Decapitated同樣身為技術死金團，
但兩個團體所呈現出來的感覺卻不完全相同，
Fleshgod Apocalypse的音樂裡面，
加入了交響的元素，
並且在技術層面以及旋律性上，
取得了一個相輔相成的程度，
他們的音樂，
兼具了爆炸性以及速度感，
讓聽的人必須承受強大的音樂衝擊性，
但卻又不至於讓人受不瞭，
清腔與死腔的搭配，
算是他們的特色之一，
雖然清腔的部份並不多，
但是偶爾的出現，
讓他們的音樂多了一些特色。
吉他solo的部份，
可以聽得出來使用了不少高階的技巧，
雙踏的大鼓穩定並且具爆發性的速度感，
讓他們的音樂從第一秒鐘到最後，
都充滿了可聽性，
死腔的部份，
雖然不像傳統死腔那樣的低沉混沌，
但是卻很有力道，
頗有一番風味。
Fleshgod Apocalypse的音樂，
對於技術死金的忠實支持者，
或許會覺得他們的音樂旋律性偏高，
不像傳統的技術死金那麼樣的高技術，
但是現今技術死金的風格也正在漸漸的轉變，
能夠將高超技術以及旋律性搭配到一個完美的境界，
Johnson認為這才是現在技術死金正在走的道路。
