樂團BIO

Edguy (刀鋒邊緣) 是一個來自德國 Fulda 的力量金屬樂團。

刀鋒邊緣樂團由一群十四歲的學生 Tobias Sammet 、 Jens Ludwig 、

Dirk Sauer 以及 Dominik Storch 在一九九二年成立，

團名《 Edguy 》其實是他們當時的數學老師 Edgar 先生的暱稱。

直到一九九八年 Tobias Exxel 加入時，他們依然沒有 Bass 手，

主唱 Sammet 當時用鍵盤作出 Bass 的旋律。

錄製了兩張 Demo 後，他們在一九九五年得到 AFM Records 一紙合約。

最初的兩張專輯銷售不甚理想，但一九九八年的《 Vain Glory Opera 》專輯是他們的轉捩點。

之後他們又創作了兩張專輯，

德國廠牌 Nuclear Blast 於二○○四年簽下他們。

在2001、2002之間，

Tobias Sammet 發行了他的個人作品《 Avantasia 》，

參與的不乏許多知名音樂人，無庸置疑是一部成功的金屬歌劇。

 



Edguy 以簡潔明快的旋律搭配主唱 Sammet 的高音域，

如同典型的歐洲力量金屬。

他們的歌詞經常隱喻、暗示著一些哲學或社會的主題：

順服（ The Headless Game 、 Mysteria 、 King of Fools ）、.

教會的命令（ The Kingdom 、 Theater of Salvation ），

以及現代文明的危險（ Navigator 、 The Devil and the Savant ），

當表現這些主題時，Edguy 使用超自然的、神祕學的詞句，

不過也有些比較輕鬆、詼諧的歌曲（ Das Reh 、 Save Us Now 、 Lavatory Love Machine 、

 Life And Times Of A Bonus Track ）。

刀鋒邊緣樂團沒有自許任何意識形態，

Tobias Sammet 是這麼說的：「我們沒有政治，也沒有宗教色彩；

至少在我們的歌曲當中，沒有明確的訊息教你該怎麼想事情。」

 Edguy 同時也在大部分的作品中採用較長的史詩式章節。

感想

Edguy，

一支來自德國的力金勁旅，

承襲前輩們的精神，

為力金注入新血。

力金一直都是Johnson喜愛的金屬種類之一，

原因在於Johnson早期很愛聽速金，

但是因為速金聽久了，

說真的會有些膩，

但是因為力金的部份，

除了速金的成分以外，

節奏感加強了，

樂曲的變化也多元化了，

使得歌曲變得更有趣了。

歐洲力量金屬主要在1980年代由德國樂團Accept帶領而成，

他們融合了猶太祭司重複段和仿AC/DC唱法，

再引入德國民謠和傳統音樂於重金屬音樂中。

他們的音樂無論是唱的部分和吉他的部分，

都充滿史詩色彩、吸引的旋律和凱旋味道。

歌曲如"Breaker"和"Fast As A Shark"，

都被識定為歐洲力量金屬音樂的先河。

到了1980年代中期，

歐洲團隊如德國的萬聖節樂團（Helloween）注重發展樂曲上的旋律。

萬聖節樂團混合了速度金屬的重複段並加入了類似鐵娘子的主音唱法，

更使唱腔變得響亮。

他們的大碟（Keeper of the Seven Keys, Part 1） (1987年)，

和（Keeper of the Seven Keys, Part 2） (1988年)，

 都被當作德式力量金屬的奠基。

力量金屬讓人舒服的原因在於它熱血，

但不像旋死或死金或黑金那麼樣的沉重，

歐洲可說是力金很盛行的地方，

世界上大多數的好團或名團，

也都是來自於歐洲，

其中又以德國為其中的佼佼者，

如Helloween、Primal Fear，

這些都是在力金界赫赫有名的樂團。

Edguy身處於這樣的國度裡，

並沒有因為這些前輩們的光環而感受到壓力，

而是以另外的一種方式創造出屬於他們自己的力量金屬，

他們的吉他，

並沒有很明顯的傳統力金那種速金成份存在，

但是你說他們不快嗎?

那你就錯了，

他們的依然有速彈的功力，

只不過就像我說的，

我個人認為他們把力金的"力量"加重了，

所以在速度的部份就稍稍的捨棄了，

但在某些樂曲中，

還是可以感受到速度的。

鼓手的部份是Edguy另外一項讓Johnson很喜歡的樂器，

Johnson除了吉他以外，第二想學的就是鼓，

無奈四肢不協調= =，

鼓並不適合Johnson，

但是Edguy的鼓聲，

屬於那種很有力的鼓，

且爵士鼓敲擊出來的聲音是屬於渾厚型的，

帶起整個樂曲的節奏，

是屬於Johnson很喜歡的那種鼓，

主唱的聲音，

是很典型的力金主唱，

高亢清晰的嗓音中，

帶有渾厚的低音，

且在高低音的轉換，

很順暢，

也很輕鬆，

是很值得推薦的主唱之一。

Edguy是Johnson滿推薦的一團力金團，

他們的力金跟傳統力金是屬於不同類型的，

喜歡力金的人，

這團不容錯過，

剛接觸力金的人，

這團你更要去聽看看，

不聽可惜。
