成軍於美國西雅圖的Queensryche，
雖然起始於80年代，
卻鍾情於70年代平克佛洛依德、
皇后樂團等音樂型態，
融合出一種獨特且具有前衛意識的金屬架構。
吉他手Chris DeGarmo和Michael Wilton在1981年組建Queensryche，
接著又各自招募高中同學Geoff Tate(主唱)、
Eddie Jackson(貝斯手)以及Scott Rockenfield (鼓手)共五名大將齊力演出，
1983年Queensryche獨立自製EP“Queen Of The Reich”，
創下兩萬張銷量，
吸引EMI唱片興趣簽入旗下，
陸續八張專輯問世，
Queensryche獨一無二的金屬樂章，
吸引大批死忠樂迷，
持續衝破90年代陣線，
直至新世紀到來，
仍不被搖滾樂界遺忘。
2006年入主Rhino以來，
已發行“Operation: Mindcrime II”、“Take Cover”、
“Mindcrime At The Moore”三張作品，
而全新錄音室專輯“American Soldier”也在2009年問世，
此概念專輯源自主唱Geoff Tate，
其父親是退休職業軍人，
經歷過越戰，
退休之後繼續於軍中服務，
終其一生都奉獻給軍中，
卻從沒向Geoff說過任何軍中的經歷，
讓Geoff從小到大都繞著父親好奇詢問，
直到近幾年老邁的父親才開始述說自己在軍中的故事，
Geoff錄下父親的對話，
才開始有製作這張專輯的想法，
成為這張概念專輯的開端。

感想
Queensryche，
老牌重金屬樂團，
1981年成立至今，
經過了30個年頭，
在金屬界屹立不搖。
老牌的重金屬樂團，
不管時代再怎麼樣的改變，
他們總是可以用他們的方式，
在那個時代找到出路，
總是可以在那個年代，
造成話題，
或許不再像以前一樣的風光，
但總會有人記得他們，
給人有種，
老兵不死，只是凋零的感覺。
重金屬最早起源於西方1960年代後期的Hard Rock，
1970年代初的新一批樂團（齊柏林飛船，黑色安息日，深紫色樂團）將演奏技巧加以改良，
Glam Rock潮流過後，
又出現了一批正式自稱重金屬音樂的樂團猶太祭司（Judas Priest）。
70年代的Punk代表樂團性手槍風波過後，
在英國的地下搖滾圈子裡，
突然崛起了一種新式的金屬潮流：New Wave of British Heavy Metal，
其中的主力樂團有鐵娘子（Iron Maiden），威豹（Def Leppard），
火車頭（Motorhead），撒克遜（Saxon)……幾乎同時，
該金屬風波也引起了美國樂團的反應，
金屬製品（Metallica），麥加帝斯（Megadeth），
毀滅魔神（Savatage）造就美國重金屬的興起。
可以看得出來，
在70、80年代的重金屬樂團，
都成為了重要的重金屬音樂指標，
同樣成立於這時候的Queensryche，
想當然爾也是承襲了這樣的傳統，
走的是傳統的重金屬音樂，
在後期則加入了前衛金屬以及力金的元素進去，
讓他們的音樂，
變得更多元化。
Queensryche的主唱，
聲音屬於比較高亢的嗓音，
其實感覺上有點類似槍與玫瑰的主唱特性，
後期的由於年齡的增長，
主唱的聲音也由高亢的嗓音，
轉變成為比較渾厚的中年男人的嗓音，
倒也有了另外一種韻味。
但是事實上，
Queensryche的音樂特性並不明顯，
他們並沒有像其他同時期的樂團，
擁有一個比較鮮明的色彩，
吉他手的功力也屬中等，
並沒有很突出的表現，
對於那個年代的樂團來說，
Queensryche算是比較弱的，
因為他們所擁有的，
就是那股重金屬精神而已。
老兵不死，只是凋零，
這句話用在很多80年代的樂團，
其實都很適合，
因為他們很努力，
努力的將最初的重金屬精神，
傳承下去!!
