System of a Down，有時縮寫為S.O.A.D，
是一支來自於美國加利福尼亞州洛杉磯的重金屬樂隊，
他們的音樂風格介於另類金屬和新金屬之間。
樂隊由主唱以及鍵盤手塞爾日·坦基揚、
鼓手約翰·多爾馬安、吉他手，
和主唱達倫·馬拉基安和貝思手沙弗·奧達里安在1994年組成。
他們四個成員是亞美尼亞裔，
大部分歌曲都是說一些和1915年的亞美尼亞大屠殺，
以及正在進行的反恐戰爭有關的信息。
他們曾經被提名格萊美獎四次，
其中在2006年歌曲BYOB贏得了最佳硬搖滾表演，

感想
System of a Down，
來自美國的NU - METAL樂團，充滿爭議性的歌曲，
讓他們在新金屬界，
獨樹一格。
新金屬主唱通常採取具有侵略性的唱腔，
包括有清腔、喉音嘶吼、重金屬與硬蕊龐克的各式吼叫，
有時也如放克金屬使用饒舌。
KORN的Jonathan Davis、LINKIN PARK的麥克·信田與查斯特·班寧頓、
Chevelle的Pete Loeffler、Slipknot的Corey Taylor、Taproot的 Stephen Richards、Disturbed的David Draiman，
和Limpm Bizkit的Fred Durst都表示，
受到Tool主唱 Maynard James Keenan 的影響，
Fred Durst也說Tool是影響他最大、也是他最喜愛的樂團，
Faith No More的Mike Patton 也是影響新金屬的重要人物。
新金屬的貝斯常常讓人聯想起嘻哈或放克，
在有些歌曲中，貝斯手會使用slap的技巧，為歌曲增添放克節奏。
許多新金屬貝斯手會使用五弦貝斯取代常見的四弦貝斯，
許多新金屬樂團會使用DJ來增加音樂元素（像是音樂取樣、刮盤、電子背景），
代表人物有Silpknot的Sid Wilson、
Linkin Park的Mr. Hahn和Limp Bizkit的DJ Lethal。
新金屬發展得很快，但也消失得很快，
畢竟這是一種結合時下流行樂風所產生的分類金屬，很多樂團融合了Rap、電音等等，
很合時下年輕人的胃口，
但是聽久了以後，
真正可以生存下來的新金屬樂團，
卻屈指可數。
版主對於某些新金屬的樂團也是有所偏好的，
但是版主所偏好的新金屬樂團，大多屬於比較偏向元本金屬元素的樂團，
但並不是說融合太多其他元素的樂團不好，
只是單純個人喜好罷了。
System Of A Down這支樂團，
版主聽了很久了，他們的歌詞，
很有爭議性，
他們的音樂，
偏向重金屬元素，
他們的技巧，
中等偏上，
樂團中主唱可說是System Of A Down的靈魂，
誇張的唱法，
但是並不會讓人覺得不舒服，
雙吉他的配置，
在他們樂團中並沒有很明顯的分別，
原因在於他們的solo並不是他們的強項，
所以通常在樂曲之中，
兩把吉他是互相cover的，
鼓的部分，
版主認為並不突出，
所以在這邊也不多做分析。
新金屬在90年代風行了一段時間，
但是在2005年後很多樂團開始偏向主流，這個分類也開是慢慢式微，
但是還是有很多有實力的樂團，
堅持在他們自己的道路上。
